KRISTAN FILER

KristAn Filer is a multimedia artist based in Green Bay, Wisconsin, whose work celebrates the unique beauty of the upper Midwest. Utilizing a playful combination of vibrant colors, rich textures, and light, Filer captures the spirit of the region's landscapes and wildlife across drawing, painting, collage, and papier-mâché sculpture. Her creative journey deepened in 2020 as a tribute to her late father, channeling his humor, kindness, and devotion to nature into her art. This exploration evolved into a profound focus on avian subjects, symbolizing a newfound sense of personal freedom. Filer’s diverse background includes service as a U.S. Air Force mechanic and a multi-decade career teaching mathematics, Spanish, and manufacturing. Now dedicated fully to her studio practice, she is an active member of the International Society of Experimental Artists, and the Wisconsin Watercolor Society. Filer also recently received an Honorable Mention at the Art Garage Gallery for Undaunted, her watercolor painting featuring a stunning portrait of a Scottish terrier.
