CHRISTINE COURCHAINE

Christine Courchaine is the artist and owner behind East Twin Arts. She has spent most of her life nestled along the edge of a forest along the banks of the East Twin River in Kewaunee County, WI. Her work is centered on animals and fantasy, with inspiration coming from her surrounding environment.

Christine’s newest body of work repurposes discarded cabinet doors. Each piece starts off with a charcoal sketch, followed by filling the the subject with white gesso and then drawing with various markers. Enhancements are made with metallic gold paint or gold flake. Each piece is then finished with black charcoal shading to make it appear as though it is paper popping off the surface.

Her work has been displayed at many museums and galleries across the state, including the Neville Museum, Miller Art Museum, Plymouth Art Center, the Art Garage, as well as a 99+ piece permanent collection at the Epic Systems Campus in Verona, WI. 

Artwork from current collections can be purchased at Off The Wheel Pottery in Door County, Fishline Studios in Algoma, the Madison Art Market in Madison, WI and various locations around Manitowoc County through the Lakeshore Artists Guild. Christine also sells her art at many juried art festivals across the country. A few local and more notable festivals include Green Bays Artfest, Midsummer Festival of Art in Kohler WI, Madison's Art Fair Off the Square, Wells St. Art Fair in Old Town Chicago, Third Ward Art Fair in Milwaukee, and The Affordable Arts Festival in Denver Colorado among many others. She has also had a full season chalet at the Christkindlmarket on Broadway in downtown Green Bay for many years where she sells her hand-painted ceramic and wood ornaments.
